Introduction
Shot in the Dark, this project is to test the applied skills of math. If you have ever seen a ball thrown in the air it goes up and slows down until gravity is too much and pulls it back down. It make a parabolic shape. Similar to throwing a ball, a steel ball is launched in a class room and data is recorded. First, the time, as the time was going at 0.05 sec intervals the height of the ball was recorded on a table then transferred on a graph.
Skills
- Perform algebraic operations (including compositions) on functions and apply transformations(translations, reflections and rescaling)
- Apply quadratic functions and their graphs in context of motion under gravity and simple optimization problems
- find a quadratic function to model a given data set or situation
