Internship Description
My internship was at TranTek Automation Corporation an 80 hour unpaid. My main job was to do Auto CAD validations on electrical and pneumatic files. This simply is me running a CAD file through a program, this program will then tell me whether or not the format of the file was done correct. Any thing that may not be formatted right the program will tell me the error and then I will go in and make the proper changes.
I also programmed a robot that welded parts to a fender of a car. The robot its self used the standard X,Y, and Z axis to program the robot.

Above is one assembly line that I did CAD validations for.

In my internship I had to know how to read electrical
diagrams. I also had to use tech skills from solid works to be able to make the
diagrams to scale. My internships time mostly consisted of doing CAD
validations through GMs Software.
Tech Skills I used -Draw a circuit diagram and lay out the circuit -Apply knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems -Measure and Fabricate parts for a functional prototype from the CAD multiview drawings -Test and evaluate the prototype and record results -Explain the differences between size and location dimensions -Identify and dimension fillets, rounds, diameters, chamfers, holes, slots, and screw threads in orthographic projection drawings I used all of these tech skills in the process of doing CAD validations, I had also ran pneumatic tubing in an work cell and that used some relative knowledge that was used in the CAD validations. English skills I used -Be able to create a visual presentation -Be able to give a written and oral presentation -Be able to use word document programs -Be able to properly use business letter format In conclusion I had to use many of the technical skills I learned in tech class and English during my internship. I hadn’t accomplished these skills before my internship and so many of them I gained at my internship. |
